Before we talk about free sheet music it is important to understand what it really is. Sheet music refers to the printed or hand written form of music using the various notations of music. The word 'sheet' is used in order to make it clear that it is different from any kind of live performance or broadcasting or a recording. Sheet music is sometimes also referred as 'Score'. Sheet music is basically like music on the paper. It can be regarded as a guide to recreating music which has already been played once. Sheet music can be used for learning certain aspects of music and even to improve upon some existing music. Sheet music can also be regarded similar to literature. Like to read a book one must know how to read that language, similarly to read sheet music one must be well versed with it's language i.e. the musical notations. An experienced sheet music reader is one who can hear all the sounds of music in his head by simply reading through the sheet music.
